Vernon J. Rosa

HEYBURN – Vernon J. Rosa, age 75, of Heyburn, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, after an extended illness; his loving wife, Arlene, at his side.

Vernon was born in Rupert, Idaho, on Aug. 19, 1938, to Vernon (Sr.) and Edith Rosa. He attended schools in Paul and Rupert, graduating from Minico High School. Vernon married Arlene Brower in February 1958, and together they had five children. Vernon and Arlene began their life together in Paul, Idaho, where Vernon started a career in custom farming that extended 25-plus years. The family moved to Heyburn in 1970 where Vernon resided for the rest of his life. Economic challenges caused Vernon to change careers and for many years he drove long-haul truck delivering milk and other products throughout the United States.

Vernon was an avid sportsman who excelled at fishing. He was a master at navigating the Snake River in the pursuit of Steelhead with many friends and family. Some of his favorite times were spent with his son, Mark; grandsons, Adam and Zachary; and great-grandson, Brayden (little Vern) on the Snake River. Vernon enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting activities, attending many rodeos to watch Kasie and Jared compete, as well as attending many of Jared’s football games. Cassandra holds a special place in all of our hearts. We love you and appreciate all you have done. Grandpa Vernon had a special bond with his great-grandchildren, Brayden, Addisun, Alyssa, and Kaizer. He loved watching them play and loved the hugs and kisses they showered on him.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Arlene, a marriage spanning over 55 years; his son, Mark (Linda) Rosa; his two daughters, Janet Roe and Karla (Jim) O’Toole; his grandchildren, Adam (Cassandra) Rosa, Zachary Rosa, Kasie Roe, and Jared Roe; and his great-grandchildren are Brayden Rosa, Addisun Rosa, Alyssa Rosa, and Kaizer Roe. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Mike and Eric.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and special thanks to Toni, Brandi and Ranai for all their wonderful compassion, caring, help, and support.

A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
