Dale Wayne Plott

TWIN FALLS – Dale Wayne Plott, an 87-year-old resident of Twin Falls, passed away at home on August 5, 2017.

Dale was born December 31, 1929, in Harveyville, Kansas, the son of Bryan Stephensen Plott and Amanda Louisa Sebring Plott. While growing up he worked as a farm hand. He left for the Army to serve in the Korean Conflict for two years. Prior to his war service he had courted Elverta Alger for a brief time. They resumed dating after his return and were married August 27, 1953, in Twin Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple, on July 30, 1954.

Dale began work at the Twin Falls Canal Company for three years prior to being hired by the Twin Falls Fire Department. In addition to his profession as a firefighter, from which he retired as a Battalion Chief, Dale had other part-time employment ventures. These included working for K and T Steel and his own lawn-mowing service. At one point he was mowing 32 lawns per week. He found that his efficiency was increased by operating two lawn mowers at the same time. This skill was difficult and only do-able on certain stretches of lawn, but nonetheless mastered by Dale.

Dale was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in leadership roles in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. He was a charter member of the International Association of Firefighters, local #1556.

For 50 plus years, Dale and Elverta had a dance band, which played at many dances and events. He liked hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking and he loved to make homemade ice cream and cookies.

His example of hard work, loyalty and dedication was manifest in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Three of his grandsons served in the United States military. Full-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were served by a son, son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and nine grandsons belonging to Dale.

Dale is survived by his children, Luanne (Jim) Horting, of Twin Falls, Vernon Lee (Toni) Plott, of Kimberly, and Duane Eugene (Roxie) Plott, of Twin Falls; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; his sister, Erma Jean Ross (Ted Tadlock) of Kimberly; and his brother, Larry (Marilyn) Plott of Bellevue, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elverta, who passed away in February of this year; his brother, Cecil Plott; and his parents.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Twin Falls West Stake Center, 667 Harrison Street, in Twin Falls. Entombment with military honors will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.

Viewing for family and friends at the church will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 11th, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. preceding the funeral service.

Dale’s children would like to express special appreciation to family members, neighbors, friends and Hospice Visions for the care they rendered.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley, Idaho.
