Kenneth C. Yost
BURLEY – Kenneth Charles Yost, age 90, passed away peacefully from this life at his home in Burley, Idaho, on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.
Kenneth was born in Yost, Utah, on Jan. 28, 1923. He married Guenna Rose Kunzler in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1944. After briefly serving his country in the armed forces, he moved his family to Burley in 1946, where he and his sons owned and operated a thriving dairy farm for 68 years. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed fixing things and tackling almost any project. One of his largest projects (and most enjoyed) was completing the family cabin at Island Park.
He served faithfully all his life in his many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a full-time mission with his wife in Oakland, California from 1985-86. He was a social individual and never knew a stranger. He was extremely kind and easy to talk to. He will always be greatly loved and cherished by all his posterity – especially his grandchildren (with each one thinking they were his “favorite” grandchild).
He is survived by his loving wife, Guenna; four children, Kendal and Paula Yost of Ferron, Utah, LuAnn and Dennis Ray of Gilbert, Ariz., Merlin and Jeannie Yost of Burley, Idaho, and Kaylene and Del Holyoak of Jerome, Idaho; 28 grandchildren; and 80 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Horace Yost and Lydia Jane Tracy Yost, as well as eight brothers, and one granddaughter, Janae Yost.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Unity LDS Church, 275 S. 250 E., of Burley, with Bishop Mark Mabey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
