LaVon Fronk

BURLEY – LaVon Fronk, age 101, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the Warren House in Burley.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1912, in Ogden, Utah. She was the third child and the third daughter of Ernest Benjamin and Rosabelle Hannah Elmer Phillips. A short time later, a brother joined the family. She grew up in Ogden and attended school there, graduating from Ogden High School in 1930. She then worked for Ogden Knitting Mills until she married. On Oct. 16,1937, she married Edwin J. Fronk at her parents home in Ogden. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1964.

They first lived in Tremonton, Utah, where she became a homemaker and a mother. They moved to Burley on Dec. 23, 1946, where Ed had opened Fronk Motor Company.

LaVon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Primary, in the Young Women program, and in the Relief Society where she was the secretary for 13 years.

She worked for the Amalgamated Sugar Company during their campaigns in their Burley office for several years. In 1956, she went to work full-time for Lamar Nielson's dental office as the receptionist. She retired in 1972 to be with Ed when his health started failing.

She loved to dance, travel, read, and work in her garden, as well as being of service to others. Her smiles, laugh, and friendly demeanor were there for everyone.

LaVon is survived by her three children, Kenneth (Bonnie) of Burley, Kathleen (Clyde) Black of The Woodlands, Texas, and Steven Fronk of Sutter Creek, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and their spouses; and 54 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter-in-law, Judy Taylor Fronk; and all of her siblings.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Burley LDS 3rd and 7th Ward Church, 2200 Oakley Ave., with Bishop David Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Special thanks go to the Warren House Assisted Living and their special employees and to Intermountain Homecare for tenderly taking care of LaVon.
