Marcella Mahoney
ALBION – Marcella Marie Parr Mahoney passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls at the age of 73.
She was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Orange, Calif., to Charles Wesley and Viola Bartholé Parr. She lived in Westminster, Calif., until she was 11 years old, and then moved to Garden Grove, Calif., for two years. In 1953, Marcella’s dad and his two brothers moved their families to Rupert, Idaho, to begin farming in the Idahome area.
Marcella graduated from Minico High School in 1958, then attended Links Business College in Boise. In 1962, she returned to Rupert and met Vadell “Curt” Mahoney. They were married Feb. 14, 1965.
She was involved in various organizations in the Albion Valley including the PTA, the Rebekah Lodge, and the 4-Leaf Clover Club. She helped organize the AIR Committee and was a member of the board of the Albion Senior Citizens – a position and organization which she dearly loved. She loved to play Pinochle every chance she could, go to Oakley to the many plays, and attend concerts at the King Fine Arts Center with her friends.
She is survived by her sons, Rick (Kayleen) of Albion, and Chuck (Monica) of Pocatello; three grandchildren, Tamara of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kendra (Randall) of Pocatello, and Rich of Albion; a brother-in-law, Gary Thompson of Rupert; and a niece, Carol Thompson of Rupert.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curt; and her sister, Jeanette Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be sent to the Senior Citizen’s Center in Albion, Idaho. Marcella and the family would like to thank the ladies at the Cassia Infusion Clinic; Joyce, Kathy, and Stacy, for all the care and kindness they gave her all these years. They held a special place in her heart.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley, 1350 E. 16th St.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Albion, with Wes Parr officiating.
