Elma Kay Ames
ALBION – Elma Kay Ames, age 80, of Albion, became an angel joining her parents, Daniel Edgar and Marjorie Idris Frosh Grafton on Oct. 20, 2017.
Mom was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Lexington, Neb. They lived on a farm until moving into town. She had a younger sister, Dana, and a younger brother, Lee. When she was 15, she had her daughter, Cecilia (Celie). She moved to California a couple of years later and met her soul-mate and love of her life, Kenny Ames. They married soon after. Their story is filled with fate. They were born 30 miles apart, on the same day, and same year. When Celie was 12, they had their son, Brian, and their family was complete.
Mom was a railroaders wife. She worked for a short time at a plant, but mainly she was a housewife; she babysat kids and took in ironing for extra money. Mom always took pride in her clothing, makeup and hair. They moved to Albion in 1970. She was a wonderful Avon lady for many, many years. She also worked part-time for many years at Ed’s Office Products in Burley.
Mom loved people and visiting. Her main concern was always the well-being and loving-concern for her family. She was an excellent cook. Her big passion, since 1972, was having the entire family (30 to 40 of us) at her home on Christmas Eve. She planned for this event all year. Mom was definitely the matriarch of the family. She will be missed to the moon and back!
She is survived by her husband, Kenny R. Ames of Albion; her daughter, Cecilia (Tom) Timmons of Rupert; her son, Brian (Jan) Ames of Burley; her sister, Dana (John) Justus of Twin Falls; her brother, Lee Grafton of Twin Falls; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.
To pass before her and welcoming her home are her parents; a grandson, Jacob Gutierrez; one great-granddaughter, Shaelinn Goffinet; and many more.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street in Burley, with The Rev. John Ziulkowski officiating.
Elma was a breast cancer survivor of many years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to any Dementia, Alzheimer’s or Cancer foundation of your choice. The family would also like to thank all of their friends and staff at Rosetta Assisted Living in Burley.
