Elvin James Cutler Jr., M.D.
BURLEY - E.J. Cutler, M.D., 83, of Burley, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Highland Estates in Burley.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Elvin James and Mary Eliza (Hill) Cutler. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Idaho State University in 1953, and subsequently completed his doctor of medicine degree where he specialized in ophthalmology. Dr. Cutler had a private medical practice in Burley for many years and most recently worked with the Family Health Service Corporation until his retirement.
He enjoyed photography (owning Doc’s Photo), and could often be found visiting the mountains and desert locations where he photographed the wonder and beauty of nature. He was particularly fond of Lake Cleveland and the City of Rocks. He liked restoring old photos and modifying pictures on his computer. He was an avid reader with a wide range of interests, but he particularly enjoyed science fiction.
He is survived by his children, Micheal James Cutler of San Carlos, Calif., and Julie S. Cutler of Salem, Oreg. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Cutler and Ginger Marie Davis.
An informal celebration of life gathering, for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Burley LDS Stake Center, in the cultural hall, located at 2050 Normal Ave., in Burley.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
