Lennox Merl Case
BURLEY - Lennox Merl Case, age 91, of Burley, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Lily and Syringa Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, due to natural causes.
Lennox was born on Jan. 9, 1923, at Thornton, Idaho, to William and Elizabeth Murdoch.
She met her eternal companion, Joseph Wayne Case, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and they later married on April 16, 1945, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Wayne passed away on Dec. 3, 1989.
Siblings preceding her in death include, Marie (Lowell) Stafford, Margret (Andrew) Young, Jennett (Craig) Hooper, and Mary Murdoch. She is survived by her brother, David (Uvon) Murdoch; two sons, Howard (Marla) Case, and Reid Case; and a daughter, Ruth (Dan) Lybbert. Her grandchildren include, Tate (Angey) Lybbert, Jeremy (Dianna) Lybbert, Camille (Jared) Wheeler, Drew (Megan) Case and Mary (Erik) Mincher. She is additionally survived by great-grandchildren, Logan and Ann (Jeremy), Kotter and Johnna (Tate), Keegan and Riley (Drew), Colin, Madeline, Kate, Gavin, Averie, and Quinn (Camille); and by numerous nephews and nieces.
Lennox worked for many years in the Cassia County School District school lunch program in Burley. Later, she continued to make cookies in bulk - which the neighbor kids loved to eat frozen from the freezer. She continued her career at J. R. Simplot Company in Heyburn, Idaho, retiring in 1984.
Grandma Lennox had numerous talents and skills including cooking, embroidering, crocheting, and quilting. She will always be remembered for making quilts for kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a talented cook and passed those talents to her daughter. Her grandchildren loved her macaroni and cheese. Marla says she baked the best cinnamon rolls in the world. With Reid's assistance, Grandma Lennox never forgot to send Christmas or birthday cards (always with cash inside) to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She and Wayne always had a cow for milk, beef, and a large garden for food during the winters.
A believer in the importance of the value of an education, Lennox encouraged and financially supported her children and grandchildren to obtain university educations.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Officiating will be Bishop Ty Jones. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
