Doyle Lowder
RUPERT – The world is a poorer place with the passing of Doyle Lowder, on November 1, 2014, in Nampa, Idaho. He was a great husband, a great father and grandfather…and a true friend to many. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
Doyle married Edith Hammon on January 2, 1943, at the home of his parents, Eva and Carl Lowder, in Rupert. He was home on leave after participation in the WWII battle of Guadalcanal as a battleship sailor.
The end of WWII, and the start of a family brought Doyle and Edith to Rupert. His lifelong career in education started as a teacher, and led to many administrative, and continuing education responsibilities. He retired from Minidoka County Schools in 1980 after a year as the principal of Paul Elementary – his favorite education experience.
Doyle was an avid sports fan. He loved hunting and fishing and camping with family and friends. Family activities were central in his life; they brought true joy. Doyle maintained a lifelong sense of humor, and became locally famous for his poetry.
Doyle outlived everyone on both sides of his immediate family. His beloved Edith died in 2001. He lived in an assisted living facility in Nampa for the five years prior to his death. The goal of life isn’t to live forever, but to create something that will, Doyle certainly did that.
We love you Dad - Teresa, Sherry (Ken), Michael, Peggy.
We love you Grandpa - Brent (Regina), Bryan (Niki)
We love you Great Grandpa - Sam, Gracie, Lilly, Lydia
