Ron Hall

BURLEY - Clarence Robertson “Ron” Hall, 73, of Burley, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.

He was born on July 19, 1941, to Clarence Ernest and Fannie Eliza Hall in Harriman, Tenn. Ron was the second of three children. His youth was spent in Tennessee until Sept. 13, 1960, when he joined the United States Navy. Ron served honorably as a Yeoman until Dec. 22, 1964. He was stationed in California at Miramar and in Hawaii. After the Navy, he enrolled in Dixie College in St. George, Utah, where he met and married Pamela E. Hicken in January 1967. Ron later transferred to the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City where he earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration in May 1969. Directly after graduation, Ron went to work for Del Monte and they moved to Franklin, Idaho, where he lived until April 1976 when he transferred to Burley, Idaho. The move to Burley was a “temporary” move. He worked for Del Monte in Burley for just over three more years. Ron then went to work for Albertson’s Supermarket where he stayed until he retired in February of 1998. After retirement, Ron went to work part time at Sears as a sales associate. He finally took on retirement full time and enjoyed just being home.

Ron was known for many things among his family and friends. The two most well known traits were his love for his wife and his love of trains. Ron had loved and collected trains since he was a little boy, but Pam was the center of his whole world. His childhood was challenging and greatly shaped his outlook on life. He met Pam and was immediately smitten. She deeply influenced who he was and who he became. Ron joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1978. Ron and Pam became eternal companions on May 11, 1979, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. His conversion was a life-changing blessing for his entire family. It gave him direction and perspective.

Besides his wife and his trains, Ron enjoyed camping, reading and watching old westerns, woodworking, chocolate chip cookies, and Pepsi. He did not set the world on fire with his personality or his accomplishments, but he knew what he liked and knew who he was. Ron was a good and simple man.

Ron was the proud father of five biological children, one adopted child, and many foster children: Robert (Tina) Hall, Brenda (George) Thibeault, Michael Hall, Randy Hall, Curtis Hall, and Paris Hall. Michael and Curtis preceded him in death. Ron was also the grandfather of nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the Burley LDS Stake Center, 2050 Normal Ave., in Burley, with Bishop Mark A. Dowdle officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
