BURLEY – George Edward Smith, age 78, of Burley, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at his home.
George was born on April 27, 1936, in Burley, Idaho, to Maurice Edward and Dorothy Fisher Smith. He attended school in Burley and completed his education at Burley High School. He married Nancy Dall on August 25, 1979, in Burley, Idaho.
George received the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army for two years and retired from his employment at Boise Cascade.
George loved the Idaho mountains and the Oregon coast as well as hunting and fishing. He dearly loved his family and appreciated the friends God gifted him with through life.
George is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Lilly Merrill, Mark Smith, Kim Pisano, Lori Maudlin, Neil Gregory, Scott Johnston and Mary King; his sister Mary Smith Lovelace; numerous grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gary Smith.
A memorial service will be held next spring at Calvary Baptist Church in Burley, Idaho.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Friends of Israel, P.O. Box 908, Bellmawr, N.J. 08099.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
