Kristine Payne
PAUL - Judy Kristine Payne, 67, of Paul, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
Kris was born on Aug. 4, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Kenneth Earl and Henrietta Fern (Miller) Brown. She received her education in Filer and Twin Falls. She married M. John Peterson, and they had two sons, Johnny and Dennis. She later married Robert Payne and they had a wonderful life together.
She had worked at Herrett’s Custom Stocks in Twin Falls and was a bar tender for many years. She retired from the Smith’s Food King Bakery in Burley, after 19 years of service.
Kris was a people person. She liked visiting and getting to know everyone she met; she was a true social butterfly. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and created many quilts, doilies, and blankets for her many family members and friends. She loved to travel and always wanted to find a new route to get to where she was going. Additionally, she was an avid T.V. watcher. However, most important was being around her family. She always looked forward to the family barbeques celebrated on special occasions and holidays. She had a special friendship with Donna Payne from Hailey. They communicated weekly and she so enjoyed receiving Donna’s letters and phone calls.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Ken Peterson (Melissa Shaw) of Paul, and Dennis Peterson of Rupert; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Larry (Carol) Brown, Dennis (Linda) Moon, Randy Brown, Grant (Brenda) Wageman, Patricia (Gary) Reed, and Gary (Lori) Wageman; and many nieces and nephews.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one brother, Roger Brown.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Kris was especially grateful for Melissa Shaw (the daughter she never had) who so lovingly stood by her side and cared for her these past years.
