BURLEY - Olga Parish Critchfield, 88, of Burley, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in Elba, Idaho, the only daughter of Ellis Robert and Ethyl B. Durfee Parish. Her childhood was spent in the Elba/Almo valley riding horses, playing with cousins, and being teased by her four brothers. She was a cheerleader, played on the girls basketball team, and graduated from Raft River High School. On Jan. 15, 1947, she married Cleo C. Critchfield. They are the parents of three children, Portia (Allen K.) Schrenk, Kim P. (Marla) Critchfield, and Casey Cleo (Patty) Critchfield.

Mom stayed home to raise her family while Dad’s job with JC Penney moved us from Oakley to Burley, Rupert, Logan, Utah, and in 1959, back to Burley. In 1964, Mom and Dad opened C&E Apparel in the Overland Shopping Center, later known as Cleo’s Clothing. After Dad’s passing in 1983, Mom worked at Farmer’s Corner and, for many years, weighed beets at Kenyan and Hatch beet dumps.

In her younger years, Mom liked to golf. She loved to fish and kept busy crocheting, reading, making beaded jewelry, and took great pride in her flowers, both inside and out.

Mom’s and Grandma’s, as her house was fondly known, was always a great stopping place for daily necessities, cookies, or a handful of nuts.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses; eight grandchildren; 11 ½ great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Boyd Parish of Blackfoot, and Phil Parish of Fillmore, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Garth Parish and Pier Parish; and a great-grandson, Asher Critchfield.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where family and friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at the Grand View Cemetery in Elba.
