Chall Allred

BURLEY, IDAHO - Chall Allred, a long-time resident of Burley, Idaho, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at the age of 94.

Chall was born in Roosevelt, Utah, on June 23, 1920. He was the seventh of nine children born to Horace and Ruby (Robins) Allred. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1938 where he served as student body president. Chall attended Weber State University before serving in World War II in Europe with the Army’s 342nd Field Artillery Battalion. Chall graduated from Utah State University with a Master of Agricultural Economics degree.

In 1950, Chall married Sally Ann Brooks of Burley. Together, they raised three children. Chall managed Swift & Co. in Burley. He owned and operated Feeders Grain Supply and built Burley Butte Feedlot in 1970. Chall served on the Idaho Beef Council, on the board of trustees of Idaho Bank & Trust, and as the Exalted Ruler of the Burley Elks Club.

One of Chall’s favorite accomplishments was establishing the Chall & Sally Allred Foundation, which has provided college scholarships for hundreds of students in the Duchesne School District over the past 20 years.

Chall was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlotte Davis and Helen Allred; and brothers, Lee, Reese, Allen, Melvin (Bud), Ted, and Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Brooks Allred; three children, Mary Ann (Tim) Bramhall of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Howard (Ann) Allred of Bend, Ore., and Nancy (Jeff) Whipple of Sandy, Utah; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Military rites will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
