Arland Kay Baker
BURLEY - Arland Kay Baker, 30, of Burley, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
Arland, beloved husband, father, brother, and son, was born May 25, 1984, in Burley, Idaho, to Henry Arland and Diana Kay Bingham Baker, the tenth of thirteen children. He learned the value of hard work at an early age working for the family business. He also worked for area farmers during harvest. Arland attended grade school in Burley and graduated from American Heritage Academy in 2002. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Sacramento, California, where he was introduced to his future wife. Upon meeting her for the first time, he told his companion, “I feel sorry for whoever marries that girl!” Little did he know he would later return to California and start dating that very girl!
Arland fell in love with beautiful Cherece Monique Wehe. They were married on July 12, 2008, in Placerville, Calif., and sealed for eternity one year later in the Sacramento California LDS Temple. Arland and Cherece lived in Burley and Heyburn for the first years of their marriage while he worked with his brothers at Pump Service. They moved to Roosevelt, Utah, for a little over a year while Arland worked at Environmentally Clean Systems. Wanting to be closer to family, they returned to Burley and Arland resumed working with his brothers and his “other brothers.” He loved to learn and was currently enrolled at Western Governors University.
Just like his father and grandfathers, he had a creative and inventive mind. He was a talented artist and enjoyed working with his hands. But the thing he loved doing the most, was spending time with his family; he was a devoted husband and father. His highest priority was developing strong relationships with his wife and children. Arland had a fervent testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Pella 1st Ward, serving as an assistant 11-year-old Scout leader. He loved the scouting program and was an Eagle Scout. Arland quietly served anybody who needed him. He had a gentle and loving personality that left an impression on all who knew him.
Arland is survived by his wife, Cherece; his children, Rylynn Elizabeth (5), Haddie Elyse (3), Jayda Rose (2) and Jackson Arland (8 months); his parents, Henry and Diana Baker of Burley; his siblings, David (Mindy) Baker, Kimberli Lott, and Stephen (Mandy) Baker all of Burley, Melanie (Max) Clements of Rexburg, Loralee (Todd) Salisbury of Portland Ore., Legrand (Diana) Baker of Burley, Tiffany (Jason) Moses of Blaine, Minn., Annmarie (Tim) John of Caldwell, and Scott Baker, Marty (Rachael) Baker, and Mitchell (Becca) Baker all of Burley.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Stefanie; and grandparents, Wallace and Lois Baker, Heber Kay Bingham, and Mary Louise Bingham.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, at the Pella LDS Church, 160 W. 400 S., of Burley, with Bishop Trent Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Pella Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
