Twylla Davis Killian
HEYBURN - Twylla Yevette Cottom Davis Killian, 85, of Heyburn, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
Twylla was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Sarilda, Idaho, to James Olaf and Celia Pearl Moon Cottom. She was the second oldest of four children. Her mother died when she was 12 years old. She moved to California where she graduated high school. After high school, she moved to Utah, where she lived with her aunt. She married Marvin H. Davis in 1949. They had four children, Eldon, Jerry, Rae Dene and Bryant. They lived in Las Vegas until 1980, when they moved to Burley.
In 1985, Twylla and Marvin moved to St. George, Utah, where they lived until Marvin's death in 1990. Shortly after, she moved back to Burley. She got a job with the Office on Aging through the College of Southern Idaho, where she worked as a senior companion in the Burley-Rupert area. She loved working with those she helped.
She filled two 18-month proselyting missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Georgia and Alabama. She was a faithful, active member of the Church all her life. She enjoyed doing family history and temple work. She was an ordinance worker in the St. George Utah and Logan Utah LDS temples. She was a member of Daughter of Utah Pioneers (DUP) and loved to work in the garden and yard.
Twylla married DeKent Killian in 2000. They served as ordinance workers in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple. They loved to dance and be with their friends. They moved to Heyburn in 2004. Kent died in 2011.
Prior to her death, she resided at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center. The family wishes to extend special thanks to everyone who loved her and cared for her; her doctors, Dr. Walter Graham and Dr. Paul Dearing, and, the medical staff at Cassia Regional Medical Center.
Twylla was preceded in death by her parents; her baby sister, Bonnie Jean; her brother, Adren Lewis; her husbands, Marvin H. Davis and DeKent Killian; and a son, Jerry Nolan Davis.
Twylla is survived by her brother, Keith (Nancy) Cottom; her children, Eldon ( Paula) Davis and Rae Dene (Neil) Robertson both of Burley, and Bryant (Arlene) Davis currently serving a mission in England; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed. We will miss her bubbly personality and ever present smile.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Heyburn Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 S. 500 W., of Heyburn, with Bishop Clayton King officiating. Burial will be in Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
