ALMO – Colleen Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend returned to her heavenly home to be joined with her eternal husband, sons, parents and siblings on Nov. 18, 2018, at the age of 90. Colleen passed away peacefully of natural causes coupled with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service to all who knew her.
She was born to Glen V. and Ione L. Norton on October 22, 1928 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada. She lived in Burley, Idaho, Portland, Oregon and Boise, Idaho before settling in Almo, Idaho with her husband, Zennith Ivan Taylor, whom she married Jan. 14, 1946, in Burley, Idaho, at the age of 17. They were later sealed in the Logan Utah Temple Sept. 27, 1948. She spent the majority of her life raising a family in the small community of Almo with friends she loved dearly.
Colleen spent several years as a school-lunch cook at the local Almo Elementary where she has fond memories of feeding and nurturing the children, whom she also loved dearly. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, beading models of LDS temples with her husband, crocheting baby blankets and sewing sun dresses for less-fortunate girls in impoverished countries.
Colleen served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various callings in the Primary, Young Women’s Mutual program and as the Relief Society president. She and Zen also served for 14 years as temple officiators in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Later they joined family in Spokane, WA and Pocatello, ID. After Zen’s passing Colleen made her home in an assisted living in Utah where she made friends and spent the last three years. We express our appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Mountain Ridge, Legacy of South Ogden and most recently, Chancellor Gardens Memory Care.
She is survived by her daughters, Shana (Pat) Cahoon, and Michele (Steve) Bettridge; and daughter-in-law Shauna (Randy) Taylor. Her posterity includes 35 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lynn M Norton, Roy G Norton, and Melba Henderson; husband, Zennith Ivan Taylor; and sons, Randall N Taylor, and Blake Taylor.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Almo, with Bishop Jason Tracy officiating. Following the funeral, the interment will take place at Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley, 1350 E. 16th St., and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, preceding the service at the church.
