BURLEY - Marion Marie Walker, 92, of Meridian, and formerly of Burley, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at The Cottages of Meridian assisted living facility.
Marion was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Tucson, Ariz., the daughter of William Gardiner and Mabel Richard Dumont. She received her high school education from Yuma High School, which helped prepare her for her career paths as a real estate broker and interior designer. She was intelligent and well-spoken, and served on the Idaho State Board of Realtors, as well as the host of her own radio show on KBAR, in which she discussed concepts of interior design. She married S.L. Walker on June 8, 1940, in Yuma, Ariz.
Aside from being a successful real estate professional, Marion played the organ, was a great cook, an avid walker, and she loved to crochet and play Bridge. Her involvement in church and civic activities included membership in the United Methodist Church and affiliation with the Soroptomist group in Burley. Marion and her husband, SL, built the Soroptomist scone booth - which today, still stands at the Cassia County Fair Grounds.
She is survived by her children, S.L. Walker Jr. (Linda) of Yuma, Ariz., Art Walker of Bonney Lake, Wash., Tom Walker (Jeanie) of Sumner, Wash., Curtis Walker of San Diego, Calif., Donna Boxall (Robert) of Meridian, Idaho, and Rusty Walker (Karen) of Kimberly, Idaho; her sister, Beverly Primeau of Lacy Springs, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her crowning accomplishment, however, was that of being a devoted wife and a loving mother of six children. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Officiating will be her son-in-law, Robert Boxall.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
