BURLEY – Phebe June Davids, a 90-year-old resident of Burley, died Thursday, June 13, 2019.
June was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Arimo, Idaho, at the Stinger home with Mrs. Stinger as the midwife. Her parents were Irvin and Julia (Chatterton) Christensen and they lived in a community east of Arimo called Arkansas. At the age of eight months, the family moved the community of Topaz; this was seven miles west of Lava Hot Springs. She attended the first two grades at Topaz and continued the next tens years at Lava Hot Springs. During these years, music was her main interest; she played in three dance bands during her high school years. She marched many miles in a marching band, which was always the number one band in state competition. She was fortunate to learn to play all instruments. June graduated from high school in 1946.
She married Ira Davids on Dec. 18, 1946. All of her children were born while the family lived in Lave Hot Springs. She and Ira had a set of twins - a girl named Julia and a boy named James. Unfortunately, they both died at birth.
The family moved to Burley in 1960. June worked at Ore-Ida for three years; J C Penney’s; Thriftway Drug; Cassia County Schools in the hot-lunch program; and completed her professional career working for Earl and Lucille McCaslin at McCaslin Lumber.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and began conducting the music in church at age ten. In addition to her lifelong involvement serving in music callings in the Church, she was a visiting teacher, sang in the ward choir, and worked in the Primary for 16 years.
June enjoyed dancing in the G & G dances, loved all crafts and made many quilts. In her later years, she liked fishing with Ira. She also looked forward to family get-togethers and collected all of her grandparents, aunts, and uncles life’s stories.
She is survived by her sons, Ira Lawrence Davids, Irvin Lyle (Rosie) Davids, Michael Lynn Davids and Charles Wayne (Michelle) Davids; a son-in-law, Mike Harward; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her twins, June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Darla Harward; and a brother, Garth Christensen.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Arimo Cemetery in Arimo, Idaho.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
