Loauna Walker King
BURLEY - Loauna Walker King, a 53-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1962, to Ralph Wayne Walker and Grace Orvetta Jensen Walker, in Rupert, Idaho. The youngest of six children, Loauna often was referred to as a million-dollar baby. She spent much of her time on the farm playing with nieces and nephews as she was closer in age to most of them. Loauna graduated from Minico High School in 1980. That same year, she met the man she would spend her life with. Loauna and Lyle King were married July 11, 1981, in Rupert, Idaho. Together, they built a beautiful life, which includes two daughters, Jennifer (Josh) Alvey and their children, Hunter, McKenna, and Lincoln of Meridian, Jashell (David) Robinson and their children, Tyson, Jackson and Jayden of Filer; and a son, Jeremy King of Twin Falls.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Loauna enjoyed working as a leader in the Young Women. Loauna spent several years working as a librarian for Declo Elementary. She loved the students and instilling a love of reading in them. After leaving the school district, she went to work as a sales representative in the Adam Haynes State Farm Insurance Agency. She especially loved insurance sales and people would often joke that she had insurance for her insurance. She was active in many community events and especially looked forward to planning the Neighborhood Block Party for State Farm each year during the parade.
Loauna’s hobbies include four-wheeling, reading, camping with friends and family, fishing, spending time with her grandchildren - whom she loved more than anything. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting. She spent countless hours creating a family quilt for the annual Walker Reunion auction in July.
Loauna is survived by her husband and children as well as her siblings, David (Carolyn) Walker of Rupert, Dennis Walker of Burley, Claudia (Carl) Tolman of Nampa, Marie (Bob) Gibson of Mountain Home, and Rodney (Lorna) Walker of Rupert; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Ray and Nina King; her sister-in-law, Patty Walker; and a great-nephew, Derek Walker.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Unity LDS Church, 275 S. 250 E., of Burley, with Bishop Ron Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Rupert Cemetery.
