BURLEY – Our dear sweet daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt, Carmelita Macias, a 44-year-old resident of Burley, became our guardian angel on Sunday, December 29, 2019.
Carma was born July 4, 1975, in Burley, Idaho, to Patricia Martinez and Juan Macias Jr., but considered Abraham Sanchez her loving and caring dad. She was a graduate of Burley High School class of 1995, where she competed in the Special Olympics for skiing. Later in life, Carma worked many years at Burger’s Etc. in Burley. Carma loved music, dancing, camping, and swinging on her swing in the backyard. She had a smile that could light up your world and made friends everywhere she went.
She survived by her parents; a paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Macias; her siblings, Ruben Ortiz, Josie Ortiz, Ernesto (Nancy) Martinez, Sergio Gutierrez, Jesus (Katelin) Esparza, Daniel (Ashley) Esparza, Melissa (Joey) Monroy, and Christina (Johnny) Vargas; 26 nephews and nieces; 12 great-nephews and nieces (all of which she considered her babies); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jose Francisco and Petronila Martinez; her paternal grandfather, Juan Macias Sr.; and two aunts, Guadalupe (Lupita) Martinez and Margarita Morin.
As Carma would say, “It’s time to close the cantinas (curtains).”
A vigil will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with the recitation of the rosary beginning at 6 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, also at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
The services have been placed in the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
