Mar. 10, 1945 - Jan. 27, 2020
RUPERT – David Roy Naylor, a 74-year-old Rupert resident, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family at his side, on Monday, January 27, 2020, from effects of colorectal cancer.
David was born March 10, 1945, in Healdsburg, California, the son of Harold and Lucille (Smith) Naylor. He grew up on his parents’ dairy farm in Sebastopol, California. He began milking cows at eight years of age.
In 1964, David married Teresa Dodd. Together they had two sons, Scott and Ben. They moved to Rupert, Idaho in 1969, where they bought a small farm. They milked cows until retirement in 2013.
David loved the outdoors; hunting and fishing were his passion. He loved the early morning fog and hearing the elk bugle in the distance. He never tired of walking in the hills or down a stream to catch a fish. He loved animals, especially his horses, mules, and his cat, Sport.
David was a cherished husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. If Dave was your friend, you had a true friend.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; sons, Scott Naylor (Janice) of Burley, and Benjamin of Rupert; five granddaughters, Jessie Powlus (Andy) of Montana, Baily Robinson of Jerome, Kayla Makar (Bogden) of Meridian, Emily Awada (Mike) of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Hannah Naylor of Boise; and one great-grandson, Henry William Makar of Meridian.
David was proceeded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucille Naylor of Rupert.
A small, private family memorial is planned for springtime in the mountains.
A special thanks to Intermountain Hospice Team and all of our dear friends’ support.
Final arrangements have been placed in the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
