Glenda C. Plocher

PAUL – Glenda Carol Meireis Plocher, a 65 year old resident of Paul, passed on from this world on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

Glenda was born in Stafford, Kansas on September 26, 1946, the daughter of Wendell Wayne and Phyllis Ione DeSelms Meireis. She graduated from Minidoka County High School in 1964.

In 1965 Glenda married Wayne Gilbert Plocher. Shortly after Wayne was deployed to Vietnam, serving in the United States Marine Corp. After returning home from Vietnam, Glenda and Wayne moved to California with their brand new baby girl, Lisa Lynn.

After a few short years they came back to Idaho and made their home in a small duplex in Rupert where they were joined by their second daughter, Wendy Michelle.

Glenda spent many years making friends and acquaintances through work. She started the work force at VanGas in Rupert and from there she went to work at Minico High School. Later she spent 17 years as a receptionist in the medical field before going into early retirement as the early signs of alzheimer’s began to appear.

Glenda enjoyed spending time with her family. A drive out to her parents farm with kids and sewing machine in tow was a regular Sunday occurrence. Every Easter she always made sure to have a new hand made dress ready for her girls. She took pride in keeping a nice home and a well manicured yard.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne; her daughters, Lisa Paladini and Wendy Darrow; her grandchildren, Zachary Plocher, Dallas Paladini, Téa Paladini, Xantha Darrow, and Claira Darrow; her mother, Phyllis Meireis; and her brother, Jerry (Claudia) Meireis.

Glenda was preceded in death by her “Daddy,” Wayne Meireis.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Interment will be in the Paul Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Glenda’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
