Timothy Wilson Holt

Jul. 14, 1943 - Oct. 23, 2020

Date of Service: Oct. 29, 2020

BURLEY – Timothy Wilson Holt of Burley, passed away at his home surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. He was 77 years old.

Tim was born to Wilson Thomas and Phyllis Poulton Holt on July 14, 1943. He was the second of eight children. His siblings were Thomas, Ronald, Larayne, Max Perry, Brenda, Phillip, and Adrienne.

He was raised in the Mini-Cassia area and attended schools in Oakley and Burley. He graduated from Burley High School in 1962. He joined the United States Army National Guard in 1964 obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Tim married his sweetheart, Linda LaRue Thompson, on May 29, 1965; they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on Oct. 10, 1975. Together, they had seven children, Tony (Linda) Holt, Charlotte (Dale) Lewis, Linda Holt (deceased), Tamera (Brian) Jackson, Jeremy (Starla) Holt, Justin (Rhiannon) Holt, and Dustin Holt.

Tim was born to be a truck driver. He began his driving career at a very young boy “team driving” with his brother, Tom; they were so small that one did the steering while the other handled the pedals. He continued to drive commercially until shortly before his death.

He loved the outdoors and spent many enjoyable hours riding motorcycles, 4-wheelers, snowmobiling, and taking car rides through the beautiful mountains of Idaho.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully carried out many callings including, fair booth chairman and Sunday School president.

Tim is survived by his wife, Linda; six children; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Larayne Morlett, Brenda Olsen, Phillip (Donna) Holt, and Adrienne (Mark) Burkhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Linda (whom he met for his first time yesterday when he passed through the veil); a grandson, Austin Holt; and three brothers, Thomas Holt, Ronald “Skip” Holt, and Max Perry Holt.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Star 1st Ward, located at 100 S. 200 W., in Burley, with Bishop Rob Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, where military rites will be accorded by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and at the church on Thursday, from 10 until 10:45 a.m.
