From Yolanda Garcia:
I met Evelyn in Malta she was a teacher at the time. I was the ESL Paraprofessional She was an excellent third grade teacher. I used to see her in town but not anymore, she moved to Arizona with Rhonda who was also a teacher. She lived a long life and enjoyed it with her family. It's hard to let go but when there is a lot of suffering she is better in heaven. I will always love her and you are in my heart, Yolanda Garcia, God Bless you.
From Thayne and Marilyn Buck:
Evelyn always had such a beautiful smile and jolly laugh. My daughter Dana and I traveled with her and her sister on a school trip to Boston and New York and they were a hoot!! We still laugh about seeing them in the airport with their heads together sound asleep as we were ready to head for home. Also love and sympathy to the family for your loss, I'm sure you will miss her, but knowing that she's in a better place is comforting. May the Lord bless you all.
From LaShelle Jones Gibson:
My family was neighbors with the Barnes family. I knew Evelyn as Mrs. Barnes though, because she was my 3rd grade teacher. I loved her class, and still tell my kids about the books she read to us and the fun time we had learning about Japan in her class. I especially remember her having us turn our desks upside down so we could pretend to be in Japan and sit on the floor for a day. We learned to use chopstick and drank warm koolaid (to substitute for drinking tea). That was one of my favorite school years.
When I was about 13 or 14, she hired me to mow her lawn. I'd bike over through the brushy path and mow for her, and if she was home while I was there, she'd be sure to share some kind of cold drink or treat, or both.
She was a beautiful woman and truly has played an important role in who I am today, and my love for Roald Dahl books. :)
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
From Kathleen Kirkham:
Evelyn was a wonderful, sweet person. I am so pleased that I could get to know her in Quartzsite. Her life certainly blessed mine. God bless you and all the family during this tender time.
From Dale and Diane Hansen:
Though I was a neighbor, but a short time period, I had many good talks with Evelyn and felt her compassion and zest for life.. we will miss her dearly and Dale spent time with her, as a close friend and neighbor, during the past 10 years especially.. She was a joy as a neighbor and even helped us can pears last fall. she tried to stay active but her body just became tired and she is now in a special loving place where she can be young again.. love, Dale and Diane Hansen

I really admired Evelyn she was a great teacher. She was retiring when I started working for the district. She was a beautiful lady always dressed herself nicely and her nice make-up. Wherever you are my dear, you are in my prayers and your family as well. Enjoy being with the angels. Yolanda Garcia.
