Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Delma Rae Udy, 82, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 30, 2022, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 13, 1939, in Brigham City, Utah, to Jacob Blaine and Viola June Engelking Wight. During her childhood years she lived in Juniper, Albion, and Malta, Idaho. Growing up on a farm she had lots of opportunities to learn how to work hard but also enjoyed doing fun activities with family, neighbors, and friends. Delma attended Malta Elementary and graduated from Raft River High School. She subsequently went on to attend Utah State University.

Delma married Jerry, the love of her life, on August 4, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Jerry and Delma grew up in Malta and lived there most of their lives close to family and friends. In 2010 they relocated to Meridian, Idaho, and have enjoyed additional friendships.

Jerry and Delma were blessed with four children, Jerry, Wendy, Dan, and Christy. Her family was everything to her. Delma said she enjoyed most of all, doing things with her family and serving others. Her home was a place of order where everyone felt welcome. She loved having her grandkids and great-grandkids come to visit and welcomed them with open arms, toys, and, of course, treats. She held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Delma and Jerry were able to serve in the Twin Falls and Boise temples, an experience Delma cherished. Her testimony impacted every aspect of her life. Delma spent her life serving her family and others, from her early childhood to the day that she passed. She embodied love and service.

Delma is survived by her husband, Jerry Udy of Meridian; two sons and two daughters, Jerry (Annie) Udy of Katy, Texas, Wendy (Mark) Ingersoll of Meridian, Dan (Brenda) Udy of Potlatch, and Christy (Wade) Ward of Preston, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Ann (Ted) Higley of Malta.

Delma was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Vaudis Ward; brother, Gale Wight; daughter-in-law, Vicki Udy; and grandson, Zachary Ingersoll.

A celebration of life will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, February 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2515 W. Ustick Road, in Meridian.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Malta. Burial will follow at Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, February 7, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, preceding the funeral, at the church.

The family suggests memorials be directed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund in Delma’s memory.
