From Janis Peterson:
My sister Elaine and I were Jr. bridesmaids in Jim & Marie’s wedding. We adored both of them and idolized Marie. Marie worked with our mother in Jim Annest’s office and would stay with us when our parents went out of town so we wouldn’t have wild parties. Marie was so much fun, she was better than a wild party. She was so unlike anyone we knew in Burley, a strong independent single woman, active in local politics with her own plane. She took us skiing for our very first time at Half Dollar in Sun Valley laughing because we didn’t know how to stop until we came to a lip at the bottom of the slope. The only time I’ve been in a small airplane was with her and Jim. Once she and Jim started a family they were so busy, we lost touch. I’ve thought of Marie often over the years and am happy to know after 43 years, she found love again. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
From Marcy Gould Cope:

One of my oldest memories of Sister Hanzel was my Dad taking us over to help her with her leaves in the fall time. One time we showed up to help. We knocked on her door after dark and when she was in the tub. Scared her to death! She was a great women.
From Taylor and Patty Brown:
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Glenn and all the Hanzel kids. We will miss her. She brought joy to our lives for many years, during and after the time we worked together at Health and Welfare. Marie made our lives better, just knowing her. We were better people for having her in our life. We shared many good times and sometimes nearly laughed ourselves to death. She was brilliant.
Our love to All of her and Glenn’s family - you were the delight of her life.

I have fond memories of going to ReRe’s house as a child. It was fun to feed the horses apple cores, look at all the political buttons and campaign materials, and play in the tree house. She helped me get into Boys State, helped me craft arguments when on debate team, and she let me help stock the cooler at Stoker’s which so much fun for a kid. I have so many wonderful memories of Marie. She was truly a remarkable person and my life is better for knowing her. She will be missed.

From Clinton Hansen:
Summers at aunt Marie's were one of the best memories of my childhood. From spray painting jail bars on her senate opponent's signs to sneaking out in the middle of the night in the red pickup. Many of my summers were spent at her house doing 4H, feeding animals, rasing sheep. Besides raising her own kids she raised many others too. She was a wonderful aunt!
From Lisa Kamachi:
Marie and Kini Klink were the first connections I made when I began working for IDHW in the Burley area. To say that Marie was smart, FUN, engaging, and real would be down-playing her essence. The longer I knew her, the more bits of her life she shared...and always with a lot of humor and irony. She made such a deep impression upon me, and all of us that worked around and with her. To her kids and to this loving family she created....please accept my very deepest condolences. Meeting Marie was, and is, one of the best things that ever happened.
From Karen Mungall:
Marie had such an interesting life. Marie talked of a recent visit with Glen to find her old plane parking spot when she worked for I.NE.L (Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory). Not too many years ago Marie worked as a pilot for FEMA Missions. Marie had worked for the school district and very involved in Politics.
From Kelli Riding Willett:
So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. My deepest condolences to all of the family.
From Linda Anderson:
I have many fond memories of Marie from working with her at Health and Welfare. She was devoted to her children and the best boss anyone could have. Even in times of great stress, she had a tremendous sense of humor. I know she had many health problems in the last few years but also know she hated going to the doctor.
