BURLEY – Our beloved mother and eternal companion of Jimmy, Judy Kay Thompson Blacker, graduated from her earthly journey on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1947, to Reed Butler Thompson and Cleo Bowden, in Preston, Idaho. She attended grade school in Weston until fourth grade, also Heyburn and Paul schools and Minico High until her Junior year when she moved to Mesa, Arizona. She graduated from Mesa High School, in 1965. Two weeks after high school graduation, she married her childhood sweetheart, Jimmy LaMar Blacker, June 18, 1965, in the Mesa Arizona temple, the same day as her cousin, Marie. Dad says they’ve been on their honeymoon for 56 years; six days shy of 57 years. Together they made their home in Burley, Idaho, and have resided there since.

Judy had several favorite jobs including Century 21, Beehive Clothing, and Payne Mortuary, but above all she loved being a mom. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed many of her church callings, especially serving others in Compassionate Service, Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. Judy loved music; she started playing the pump organ in church at thirteen years of age. She loved spending time with family, crocheting, collecting recipes/cookbooks, barn things, jewelry, purses, and sunglasses. She was always baking and cooking for others. Judy was an excellent cook, ask anyone!

Judy is survived by her eternal companion, Jimmy Blacker of Burley; her six blessings (as she would call us) Mindy (David) Baker of Burley, Rodney (Marla) Blacker of Ashton/ Island Park, DeeRay Blacker of Grantsville, Utah, Candi (Dave) Wells of Burley, Nicole (Eric) Wardle of Burley, and Jennifer (James) Hansen of Elko, Nevada; 25 grandchildren; 12 bonus grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with one new arrival expected; one brother; and one sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and two grandsons.

The family expresses their appreciation to the doctors and nurses – a special heartfelt thank you from the family to Kathy Hines from Horizon Hospice for her loving care of Judy. Her loving husband, Jimmy, has also been a great supporter and caregiver in recent years.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Declo Stake Center, located at 213 W. Main St., in Declo, with Bishop Jay Christensen, of the Spring Creek Ward, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, preceding the funeral, at the church.
