Jesse Cruz Chacon

Jun. 14, 1995 - Jun. 26, 2022

Date of Service: Jul. 8, 2022

HEYBURN – Jesus ‘Jesse’ Cruz Chacon, age 27, better known by his family as ‘Baby Jesse,’ passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, in Pocatello, Idaho, at Portneuf Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.

From the time of his birth, June 14, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jesse was a fighter. Showing his strength at three months premature and weighing 1 pound 12 ounces, Jesse stayed in the NICU and later, nursery, for just over three months before coming home. Over the years, Jesse made his family very proud as he met developmental milestones including graduating from Burley High School in 2014. One of his most recent accomplishments was learning how to drive and buying himself a Dodge pickup!

Jesse was a friend to all. He worked for a short time at Mr. Wash, and Deseret Industries in Burley, and was recently employed at Standlee Hay in Eden. His interests included hanging out with his family, playing video games on his PS4 (that he bought with his own money), going to the movies and working out at the gym with his dad, listening to oldies music and admiring lowrider cars. Jesse was the ultimate #RaiderNation fan and was always ready to talk smack to anyone about their football team.

Though Jesse's time with us was short, he had a BIG impact which was evident the weekend of his passing. Gathered in an outpouring of love, family members took over the ICU waiting room the last two days of Jesse's life in prayer. He was loved and will be missed deeply by all who knew him including his parents: Milton and Didi (Pelayo) Hernandez of Heyburn; and his father, Jesse Chacon also of Heyburn; grandparents, Cruz and Bertha Pelayo, Felipe and Lupe Hernandez of Heyburn, Jesus and Marta Chacon and Jesus and Sylvia Munoz all of Rupert. Siblings include a sister, Savannah Chacon; and brothers, Milton Hernandez Jr, Anthony Hernandez, and Jaydin Chacon; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jesse was preceded in death by his older sister, Jasmine Chacon.

Services will be held Friday, July 8, at St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Avenue, in Burley. A visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 11:45 a.m., with Father Eladio Vieyra as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
