Date of Service: Aug. 30, 2022
JACKSON – Ellis Lloyd, an 85 -year-old resident of Jackson, Cassia County, Idaho, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
Ellis was born in Soda Springs, Idaho, on December 17, 1936, and was adopted by Levon and Myrtle Lloyd. He graduated in 1955, with the last class of Rupert High School.
On November 4, 1956, Ellis married his sought-after love from high school, Ila Jane Acock in Rupert. They enjoyed 62 joyful years together in the Mini-Cassia area. The union was blessed with three boys and three girls.
Ellis farmed with his father on the family property in Jackson until Levon’s death, and then took over himself with his family. He joined the Idaho National Guard while in high school and remained active for over 31 years. His career in life was in Irrigation. He worked several positions at A&B Irrigation during the 70’s and 80’s. He worked at Milner Irrigation for a brief period and then returned to A & B. The Lloyd Wetland north of Rupert was named in his honor. After his retirement from A & B, he became the parts delivery courier for Duncan Farms until COVID-19 hit in 2020. He really enjoyed all the interaction with the farm crew as well as the visits to “town”.
Ellis was active with coaching Little League football in Rupert, timing swim team meets that his children participated in and was always supportive of their activities in sports, music and school while they were growing up. Later in life as Grandpa, he and Ila made special trips to support and enjoy their Grandchildren’s activities whenever they could.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ila Jane; his father, Levon; his mother, Myrtle C.L. Hyde; his brother, Gerry Lloyd (Linda); and his daughter, Pam Lopez (Homer).
Ellis is survived by five of his six children, Rob (Susan) of Magna, UT, Russ (LeeAnne) of Wildomar, CA, Tami of Hailey, ID, Randy of Burley, ID, and Tiffany of Jackson, ID. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Ellis frequently had this humorous sparkle in his eye that would make others smile. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
A special thanks to Dr. Jeff Swenson for treating Ellis for the last four years and continuing his treatment during hospice care. Much appreciation to Horizon Hospice, namely Suzanne Cook for her calm, insightful and diligent care in his last weeks of life, not only to Ellis – but to the family caring for him.
The funeral will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, August 30, at the Rupert United Methodist Church, 605 H. St. in Rupert, with Rev. Janice Haftorson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.
