Jul. 11, 1951 - Nov. 16, 2022

BURLEY – John Raymond Thompson, 71, of Burley Idaho, passed away November 16, 2022, at Cassia Regional Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1951, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Leonard “Joe” and Ione Thompson. The family moved to a farm in Paul, Idaho. He graduated from Minico High School in 1969. John married Carla Jean Thompson (Pena) in 1972. He went on to have four daughters, Trina, Tenille, Shana and Sonny. Dad was a very, caring, respectful and appreciative man. He had a beautiful smile and pretty blue eyes. He was known for being, tall, strong and handsome. He was a hard worker and enjoyed farming. Once the farm was sold, he went on to work as a truck driver until he became disabled around 2008. He loved spending time with his daughters when they were young, playing Monopoly, and Trivia pursuit. He enjoyed playing catch and croquet outside, and riding his motorcycle. Dad was a big Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He loved watching sports. He was great at remembering facts and dates. He kept up on this information from reading the Almanac and Readers Digest. One of his favorite past times was listening to 70’s and 80’s music.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; and one older brother, Charles Thompson.

He is survived by his four daughters, Trina (Tony Bernad) of Malta, Idaho, Tenille (Spencer Sorensen) of Burley, Idaho, Sonny Thompson of Burley, Idaho and Shana Thompson of Denver, Colorado; six beautiful grandchildren, Ethan, Madlyn, Kaylee, Gage, Cardyci, and Kadin who he loved dearly; he is also survived by his other siblings, Doug Thompson, Donna Jenkins (Al) Semelroth, Sharie (Doug) Scott, Julie (Howard) Peterson, and Bonnie (Trent) Ferrin; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express great appreciation to all the multiple caregivers that took care
of our father over the years, most recently including Parke View Care Center, Cassia Regional Hospital and Dr. Kelly C. Anderson and staff. We also want to thank our close family and friends for their support and love over the years as well.

Dad, you will forever be missed. May you rest peacefully! We love you.......

At John’s request, no formal service will be held. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

Sorry to hear of Uncle John's passing. I have good memories of working with him and Grandpa on the farm a little bit a couple of summers as a kid. He was a hard worker, it was tough to keep up setting siphon tube and hauling sprinkler pipe. One of my earliest memories is him taking me for a motorcycle ride and melting one of my brand new shoes on the exhaust pipe!
