ALBION – Kerry J. Harris, 68, of Albion, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Wisconsin. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was born January 20, 1955, in Burley, Idaho, the fourth child and first boy born to Byron J and Marva Harris. After three daughters, his father would always find that he could do no wrong and took great pride in all his accomplishments.

He was a sweet, happy baby, who grew up to always be the champion of the underdog. Whether it was prom king, captain of the football team, or just a brother and friend, you could always count on him. He loved hunting and fishing, and drinking a beer. Most of all he loved his family. He took such pride in his children and grandchildren.

Kerry would say, he was a jack of all trades and master of none. Over the years, he worked construction, hauled hay, and in the last years of his life he would go to long haul trucking. He loved seeing the country but hated the traffic. He was always happy to come home to Albion.

His life changed five years ago when he and Sharon rekindled a relationship that had begun in their high school years. He moved to Oregon to be with her, and life became a wonderful adventure. They traveled to more foreign countries that I can name and also covered the entire United States. They spent their winters in Arizona and enjoyed the pleasures of retirement. Imagine our surprise when he became best friend with Sharon’s lap dog – a beautifully coiffed Pomeranian. They were inseparable. Tucker rode on the dash or in Kerry’s lap, wherever they traveled.

This past year was a difficult one for him, and all of us. He saw the death of his brother, Tim; his brother-in-law, Keith; and his baby sister, Laurie. He tried so hard to be there for all of us who needed him. Not many people have the ability to feel empathy like Kerry did.

Kerry is survived by his three children, Jenny (Billy) Fuger of Idaho Falls, Dony Harris of Boise, and Jesse Harris, also of Boise; his grandchildren; his sisters, Marsha Spiers of Boise, Pamela (Carl) Williams of Victor, Idaho, and Wendy (Scott) Priest of Declo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dony and Hilda Harris of Albion; his parents, Byron J and Marva Harris of Declo; and siblings, Debra Tupyi, Warren Tim Harris, and Laurie Gorringe. The reunion in heaven must have been a glorious thing.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, November 17, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.

Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all the Harris family. RIP my young friend.
From Randy Christ:
When I think of Kerry I remember hunting pheasants east of Declo, riding horses, and basically being a nuisance to our sisters. We had a great time together in the summers when I came to Grandma and Grandpa Warren's farm in View. Even though we all miss him now, I know he is having a great reunion with the family. Praying for God's blessing of peace and comfort in your memories.
From Rob Riding:
To my great friend, wish you wouldn't have left so soon. I will miss celebrating our birthdays together that we have shared for the last 55 years. I will see you again my friend!!!
From Janet Johnson:
We were saddened to hear of Kerry’s passing. Our only regrets are we did not get to know Kerry very well. I have some memories of him as a child but then moved away to Utah. What a reunion his family is having with him on the other side. God bless his loved ones on both sides. May they find comfort, understanding and peace. Your Heavenly Father loves each one of you. Love, Uncle Art and Aunt Janet

We are saddened to hear of Kerry's passing. We were friends and classmates. We cherish many fond memories through sports, Ag class and FFA, hunting, hauling hay, and school activities. We want to express sympathy to his immediate and extended family and wish them all well in the coming weeks and months as they adjust to the loss of a great guy with whom our paths crossed too seldom.
