BURLEY– On Friday Dec. 15, 2023, Jimmie L. Hobbs, of Burley, left his family and went to be with God at the age of 85, following a period of illness.

Jimmie was born on August 10, 1938, to parents, Leonard and Armal Heath Hobbs. Jim felt the defense of people was important, so he was first a Marine, and later a sheriff’s deputy and investigator for the District Attorneys office. Once he retired, he devoted his time to supporting his community by helping with the Band Boosters and other fundraisers. Jim enjoyed fishing and camping throughout his life, and loved to read any book he could get his hands on.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruthe Hobbs; his four children, Joel (Janet) Hobbs, Daniel (Vonda) Hobbs, Julie Hobbs, and Gail Hobbs; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, with one more on the way; and one sister, Linda Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings, Carol Wardlaw and Donnie Hobbs.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Pleasant View Cemetery, located at 1645 East 16th Street in Burley, with Bishop Ryan Hobson officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1p.m. until 2p.m. prior to the graveside service at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 East 16th Street, in Burley.
