Carol Manning of Springdale, Idaho, born Laura Carol Christensen, passed away at her home on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the age of 93.

Carol was born in Rupert, Idaho, to Olaf Edgar and Laura Nellie Moncur Christensen on December 19, 1930. She spent much of her childhood working on the farm with her brothers and farm hands. She attended school in Declo and Burley, graduating from Burley High school in 1949.

While in high school she met and began dating Dean LeRoy Manning. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1949. They bought a farm in Springdale in 1958 and settled there. There they ran a farm and dairy and raised seven children.

Carol was active in their church and served throughout her life. She also enjoyed painting, sewing, and gardening. Many times, her art and service would be combined as she made scenery and costumes for road shows, weddings, high school dances, proms, and plays.

In the ‘80s Carol and Dean sold much of their farmland and built their dream home. This would serve as a place for them to share their love with an ever-growing family and circle of friends. They hosted family gatherings and reunions for decades. There was space for sewing projects and gardens that would serve as the setting for multiple weddings and receptions. Their basement was often “rented-out” to family and friends.

Carol and Dean served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Jose, California in the early ‘90s. They continued to serve in the Church and community for many years.

She was preceded in death by Dean Leroy Manning (husband); Dennis Kay Manning (son); Debra Kay Manning (daughter-in-law); Michael Manning (grandson); Taylor Griffin (grandson); and Cory Manning (grandson).

Carol is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jan Manning; her children, Roger Manning, Karen Hines (Gene), Randy Manning (Marianne), Lynn Manning (Hollie), Danene Beck (Bart), and Karlene Bowden (Scott); 31 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 5 ½ great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Springdale 1st Ward, located at 519 E. 200 S., of Burley, with Bishop Troy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, preceding the funeral, at the church.
