Emily Jane Wickel

Emily Jane Wickel

Sep. 17, 1943 - Jun. 7, 2024

RUPERT – Emily Jane Wickel, an 80-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home after a lengthy illness with her family by her side.

Emily Jane was born on September 17, 1943, in Albion, Idaho; she was the 12th child born to Sterling Howard and Ferl Roberts Adams. She received her education in Albion and Declo and graduated from Declo High School in 1961.

In 1962 Emily Jane was crowned Cassia County Rodeo Queen. Emily met Virgil Lynn Wickel, her husband of 60 years, at a rodeo and, after dating for almost a year, they were married in September of 1963 in Nevada. They lived in Albion prior to moving to the Acequia area where they made their lives and raised their family until her passing.

She was always the live wire of her family. More often than not, she was the glue that held them all together. She was not only a homemaker but a helpmate to her husband, Lynn - working with the cattle and the horses that she loved. During her later years she found joy in the simple things in life and especially loved feeding and watching after her birds.

Emily Jane is survived by her husband, Lynn; her children, Teresa (Tony) Salvi of Soda Springs, Melinda Wickel, Stacy Gibbs (Rocky Ridge), Raylene Wickel, and Justin Wickel all of Burley; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Carolyn) Adams of Burley, and Jay Adams of Pocatello; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and seven brothers.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Home Health & Hospice as well as family and friends for their loving care of Emily Jane.

At her request no formal service will be held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
