BURLEY – Scot Henri Stokes, beloved father, son, husband, brother, and friend, departed this life on July 15, 2024, at the age of 49. Formerly of Burley, Scot was living in Edmonds, Washington at the time of his passing.
Scot was born in Burley, Idaho, on January 11, 1975, the son of John Robert and Denice Helen (Greene) Stokes. He had a larger-than-life personality, and always exhibited kindness and care to those around him. Scot was educated at Burley High School, then went on to the University of Utah, where he earned a master’s degree in business administration and became licensed as a CPA. He spent a large part of his career working for Dubai World, with his office based out of Las Vegas. As an avid reader he amassed great knowledge and intellectual depth during his lifetime; he was continually seeking learning and understanding on various subjects.
Topping the list of his many great traits and attributes is the fact that he was known by many to be a great friend.
Scot loved his family and friends and went out of his way to be kind and gentle, always taking time to be a good listener. He strove for success so he could provide for his family to the best of his ability. He had great concern for those around him and would make long trips to see his mother, Denice, making sure she was comfortable and happy after she suffered a stroke. He spent hours talking to her and encouraging her. He was very thoughtful to his daughters, Ella and Ruby, and was concerned about their well-being and comfort.
Scot left us early to join his twin sons, John Robert Stokes and Al Timothy Stokes; grandfathers, Eldon Packer Stokes and Alfonzo Boley Greene; as well as grandmothers, Eloise Beckstead Stokes and Norene Jones Greene.
Scot is survived by his wife, Angel Stokes; daughters, Gabriella “Ella” Denice Stokes and Ruby Jo Stokes; mother, Denice Stokes Briggs; and siblings, John Stokes, Steve Stokes, Kirt Stokes, Staci Stokes and Chase Stokes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Springdale 2nd Ward, located at 519 E. 200 S., Burley, Idaho.
There will be a “Memorial Box” for those attending to bring items, letters and notes to leave.
You will be greatly missed, we all love you Scot!
