BURLEY – Alora Kaye Barrett Carson, a 62-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Kaye was born September 30, 1962, in Burley, Idaho, the daughter of Clarence Ernest and Velda Hutchison Barrett. She received her education in Malta and graduated from Raft River High School.

Kaye was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission from 1984-1986 in South Carolina and loved the people there. She served diligently in the auxiliaries of the Church including president of the Relief Society, and in Young Women and Primary presidencies. She had a great love for the nine year olds she taught in Primary.

She worked hard throughout her life. Her time spent at the Sublett truckstop, Bake Central in Malta, and the laundromat, gave her the opportunity to meet many walks of life and establish great and lasting friendships. Civically, she was a volunteer at the hospital.

Family was of the utmost importance in her life. She was the main caregiver for her parents until their deaths. Her mother was paralyzed and also suffered from Alzheimer’s dementia. Her father endured to the end through the terrible effects of Parkinson’s disease. Kaye’s love and devotion to her parents was the true personification of the Savior.

Kaye was blessed to meet Parke Carson, who was a recent widower. They fell in love and were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on June 7, 2008. Their years together have proven remarkable through the many illnesses that Kaye suffered with. Parke stayed by her side and loved her immensely!

She was blessed with many God-given talents that she strove to develop throughout her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and was an accomplished pianist. Her writing skills earned her many recognitions in poetry. Kaye will be missed greatly by her husband, family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Parke Carson of Burley; two step-sons, Alexander Carson and Ted Carson; two grandsons, Colton and Mason; her siblings, David (Betty) Barrett and Merla (Eddy) DeNaughel, both of Burley, and Kevin (Jenny) Barrett of Sterling, Alaska; a brother-in-law, James Cole of Ogden, Utah; and her nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Barrett; and one sister, Dorothy Cole.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, with Bishop John Preston officiating.

From David Barrett:
I love you aunt Kaye and will miss you. I've always missed the times of stopping in Malta and playing around (and on) the house, saying hi. Those were good times being a kid. Aunt Kaye asked me in a message if I had any memories of my great grandpa Barrett and I told her I had some. I told Kaye the first time I saw liver was when he had it out on the kitchen table and I stopped my running around/playing and was like, "what is that!" and I remember great grandpa saying something like, "it's liver! you want some!" I don't remember trying it then though. Kaye said grandpa liked to eat liver. I hope Kaye was happy I remembered her dad. I'll miss her.
From Kay:
My earliest memories are of sitting with Kaye and Kevin at great uncle Clarence's house with Kaye entertaining the kids and Kevin playing guitar, visiting with great grandma Paskett, Velda and the rest of the clan. I always tried to stop and say hi as I passed ole Durfee's cafe where she worked for so many years. Much love dear Kaye.
From SCOTT A BARRETT:
I miss my aunt Kaye.. She always showed love for others.. I am so greatful for the selfless act of love she gave to my Grandma and Grandpa. She is now happy to be reunited with her loved ones. RIP Kaye you will be missed by many.
From Debbie Hoskin:
Some of my early memories are of Kaye, playing at her house after kindergarten, later accompanying for something she was singing, at my house joking with my dad. She started the first, maybe the only, Donny Osmond fan club in Malta! I was allowed to be a member even though I wasn't a Donny Osmond fan, haha. She was a talented and Christ-like person whom I loved and admired for her courage and her strength, for being able to find humor even in adversity. My condolences to her family.
From Aprilynne Barrett:
Kaye has been a dear friend and aunt-in-law. She has always been kind and a light of joy! She sacrificed much in her life. I know she is free of pain and loving seeing her loved ones who passed before.
From Dolly Gunter (Barrett):
I remember Aunt Kaye's kindness in teaching an Orca obsessed girl to draw. I will never forget the love she so freely gave in the form of her selfless acts.
