BURLEY – Janice Louise Gibson, passed away peacefully at her home in Twin Falls, Idaho, on February 22, 2025.
She was born on August 23, 1949, in American Falls, Idaho, the fifth child of Clyde and Eunice Bourquin. Janice excelled in academics, graduating as Valedictorian from American Falls High School. She briefly attended Idaho State University with a major in Physics and a minor in Calculus until she was swept off her feet by a handsome, guitar-playing Marine fresh out of the service. She and David Michael Gibson were married on November 23, 1968, in American Falls, Idaho. While life took her on a different path, her love for learning, curiosity, and intellect remained central to who she was. The newlyweds lived briefly in Cortez, Colorado, prior to moving to Riverside, California. In 1973, they relocated to Burley where she resided until moving to Twin Falls in September of 2024.
Janice was a devoted mother to her two sons, David and John. She spent many hours volunteering at church and in her community. She lived her life in service to others and especially enjoyed running her own coffee shop. Janice had a deep passion for music and found immense joy in cheering on her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Whether it was a school event, a sporting competition, or a personal milestone, she was always their biggest supporter. She also had a love for travel, treasuring the memories she made exploring new places with family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, David Gibson (Laurel) of Twin Falls and John Gibson (Abigail) of Boise; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Gibson (Samantha) of Meridian, John Gibson Jr. (Reyna) of Nampa, Hope Wayne (Matt) of Twin Falls, Brianna Stackle (Wade) of Boise, and Brooklyn Wood of Phoenix, Arizona; and her siblings, Reynold Bourquin, Julia Jacobs, Wilma Schmidt, Gilbert Bourquin (Christina), and Ruby Ulrich (Fred).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; her sister, Alta Dorsey; and her granddaughter, Montgomery Gibson.
Janice’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where family and friends will be received from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Janice’s memory.
