Gregory David Grove

Jan. 7, 1955 - Apr. 27, 2025

Date of Service: Jun. 14, 2025

ALBION – Gregory David Grove, 70, of Albion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Greg was born on January 7, 1955, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Raised in a loving, hard-working family, he moved to the west coast in 1960, eventually settling in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he began seventh grade. He graduated from Clark High School in Las Vegas in 1973. On February 12, 1994, Greg married the love of his life, Shawny, and together they built a beautiful blended family with their children—Stacy, Kelsee, and Jason. In 2002, Greg and Shawny relocated to Albion, a place he called home for the remainder of his life.

Greg was a lifelong plumber who took pride in his work, whether under the blazing Las Vegas sun or across the scenic Albion Valley. He loved sharing glory stories of his high school football days, playing rugby, and the challenges of large-scale plumbing projects. Greg’s passions included woodworking, camping, fishing, biking, shooting, and scenic drives. He especially cherished Saturday movie dates with Shawny. Known for his humor and adventurous spirit, Greg often joked that he had “nine lives,” having survived a motorcycle accident, getting lost in the woods, a heart attack, a flaming semi-truck accident, a moose collision with a truck, and a battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shawny Grove (Erickson) of Albion; his children, Kelsee Grove of South Dakota, Stacy (Chris) Van Nest of California, and Jason Buckway of Idaho; his grandchildren, Michael Grove, Melissa (Bradley) Quintus, Christian Kangas, Anna Graham, Kaylee Bowles, Cora and Riley Van Nest; great-grandsons, Bentley and Matthew; and many loving sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Thelma Jack; and his father, Earl David Grove.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo. A celebration of the life will follow at Marsh Creek Event Center, located at 895 S. Hwy. 77, in Albion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
