MALTA – Elaine Teeter Tolman, a 74-year-old resident of Malta, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by family.

Elaine was born February 23, 1951, in Tremonton, Utah, to Cleo Golden and Delsie Evelyn Smith Teeter. Elaine was a very loved daughter, wife, grandma, and great-grandma. She attended school in Yost, Utah, and Malta, Idaho. She graduated from Raft River High School in 1969. She met her sweetheart, Devan William Tolman, in Yost on a blind date; they married on July 19, 1969, in Yost. They were later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on September 18, 1970.

Elaine loved the Yost community. When she was younger, she loved to read. She would often be found sitting up in the crab-apple tree reading many books and poems. Some of her favorite memories of Yost was in the little white schoolhouse. She told stories of walking home from school barefoot on the graveled roads. She was always telling her kids to toughen up when it came to walking outside barefoot.

Elaine had many talents – especially sewing. She sewed every grandchild a blanket when they graduated from high school. She even sewed a special blanket with flowers that she wanted laid on her casket. She had a big passion for flowers. She loved the outdoors including camping, gardening, her flowers beds, and listening to her wind chimes.

As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elaine and Devan were called to the Arkansas Bentonville Mission in 2020; however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic they were unable able to go. They later served a service mission in the Idaho Pocatello Mission due to health reasons. She was very devoted to attending the temple and attended many different temples.

Elaine was known for her amazing cooking. Her children and grandchildren always requested her cinnamon rolls and peanut butter bars. She had a very soft spot for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Elaine and I became very good friends while working together at Malta Fuel Depot. I always thought I knew how to cook pretty good, but she taught me so much. She will always hold a special spot in Thayne's and my heart. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Devan and the family. She loved her family so much and was always so proud of them. She'll probably be watching over all of you from Heaven. May the Lord's blessings of comfort be with you.
