BURLEY – Alexandria “Alex” Galindo Rangel, 76, of Burley, passed away at her home Saturday, May10, 2025.
Alexandria was born in Del Rio, Texas, on September 19, 1948, to Juan A. Galindo Sr. and Hilaria Lopez Galindo. She was the ninth of 13 brothers and sisters. She and her family lived in Texas until they moved to Idaho in 1958, where she would attend schools in Wendell and Gooding and later attended Valley High School in Hazelton, where most of her school peers knew her as Sandy.
On September 29, 1967, Alexandria married Damasio Rangel Jr. II. Alex and Damasio briefly lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Caldwell, Idaho, Burley, Idaho, and later settled in Heyburn, with their six children. Alexandria worked for Ore-Ida (now McCains) for 32 years until she retired in 2013.
Alexandria was a devoted Catholic, and was a member of the St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley. In her spare time she enjoyed things such as embroidery, sewing, watching western movies or shows, especially ones with John Wayne, and listening to music– she was a big Elvis Presley fan. But she most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends for get-togethers, birthdays, and holidays, which she hardly ever missed. Everyone knew her as a loyal and loving friend, sister, aunt and a hard working devoted mother and wife to her family. Alexandria’s feisty, carefree and always loving attitude will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Alexandria is survived by five of her children, Julie Rangel of Ogden,Utah, Kristine (Jaime) Lopez of Burley, Pedro (Yolanda) Rangel of Nampa, Damasio (Ruby) Rangel Jr. III, and Gracie (Juan) Solano of Logansport, Indiana, as well as 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five brothers and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damasio; a daughter, Rachel Rangel; three brothers; and her parents.
A vigil service will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. The recitation of the rosary will begin at 6 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church, located at 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley. Burial will follow at Hazelton Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Ashley Abrego, Letticia Hernandez, Micaela Vega, Kay at Syringa Apartments and the staff at Hospice Visions of Twin Falls for taking great care of Alex in her final days.
