HEYBURN – Dennis Earl Johnson, a 64-year-old resident of Heyburn, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his home.

Dennis was born September 6, 1960, in Burley, Idaho, the son of Earl Thomas and Betty (Wright) Johnson. He was the second child of three, between sisters, Debbie and Diane. Dennis attended elementary school at Heyburn Elementary. He graduated from Minico High School, the class of 1978, and attended Idaho State University in the autobody program. Dennis married Shelly Martindale on July 21, 1984. Their daughter, Madison, joined this union in January of 2002.

Dennis worked at Pit Stop Cycle Repair for over 25 years, then went to work for Let’s Ride, where he stayed for more than 20 years, until the time of his death. He was the president of Snake River Retriever Club for many years. His passion was raising and training trial dogs. He won many awards with his dogs.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Shelly; daughter, Madison Johnson (Toby Allen); sisters, Debbie Severe, and Diane (Mark) Baker; brothers-in-law, Ric Martindale, and Mike (Lori) Martindale; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Brooke) Baker, Chantell (Bart) Baker, Paden “Spud” Baker, and Marka Baker; as well as seven great-nieces and eight great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Betty Johnson; and his mother-and-father-in-law, Lewis and Ellen Martindale.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Plant-a-Tree Fund, in memory of Dennis, that has been established at KeyBank of Idaho. This was Dennis’ wish so that Shelly could plant trees in their yard to remember him by.

Dear Shelly and Madison,
We are so saddened to hear about Dennis. We have such fond memories of him when we lived "next door" to you! He was always there with a helping hand and his amazing smile, from a wave of his hand as he passed by in his pickup or golf cart, retrieving a trampoline from a tree after a huge storm, or coming over to run a skunk off! We had such good times! Thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. Much Love.
