RUPERT – Theron Reading Wilkins, age 89, of Rupert, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Pomerelle Place in Burley.

Theron was born September 17, 1935, in Rupert, Idaho, to Arland Blackman Wilkins and Sarah Amelia Reading. He attended Pioneer School and graduated from Rupert High School.

He married JoAnn Edith Quast in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 30, 1955. They had seven children: Maria (Steven) Young, Patrice (Warren) Parish, Mike (Jana) Wilkins, Kathy (Bret) Robins, Ryan (Maren) Wilkins, Troy (Alisha) Wilkins, and Kandice (Nik) Rasmussen. JoAnn passed away August 6, 2009. Theron later married Joyce Rosa on September 17, 2010.

Theron had a small family dairy and farm. He farmed until 1992 when his sons took over the farm. He later started a small engine repair shop, TRW Repair.

Theron loved to go fishing and was a patient grandpa. He took multiple grandkids at a time to experience his hobby. He had a tradition of going salmon fishing on the Oregon coast every November with his son, Mike. He also enjoyed building and pulling with his lawn mowers at county fairs.

He was on the Rupert Canning Kitchen board and was involved with the Pioneer School’s PTA.

Theron is survived by his wife, Joyce; his seven children; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Arthel Murdock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn; and his siblings: Sarah Bethany Wilkins, Lois Baker, Afton Moon, Howard Wilkins, Merle Silbaugh, and Opal Wilkins.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paul Stake Center, located at 424 West Ellis Street, in Paul. Burial will follow at Paul Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

I have such good memories of Daren and Joanne. It was wonderful to get to know them and to know their family. What a lovely family they have. Sending you my love and comfort and so thankful that I know so many of you. What a good example you all have been. I hope you remember all the wonderful times with your mom and dad.
