Michael Brent Reynolds

BURLEY – Michael Brent Reynolds, age 78, passed away in the early morning hours of September 5, 2025, at his home in Burley, Idaho.

Michael was born on October 12, 1946, in Pocatello, Idaho, to parents, Joseph Vern Reynolds and Margaret (Burt) Reynolds. He was the youngest of five children, a late “surprise” and welcomed gift both to his parents and older siblings alike. He was doubly spoiled and loved.

Michael grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, where he enjoyed playing baseball. He attended Pocatello High School. It is there that he met his future wife, Victoria Eve Richardson. The young couple remained in Pocatello, Idaho, where their first child, Mark Shane, was born. When their firstborn was still an infant, Michael’s brother, Gene, obtained Michael a job at Bechtel Engineering Company in Redondo Beach, California. While working at Bechtel, Michael and Victoria's daughter, Michelle Elise, was born. Sadly, she died in Pocatello, Idaho, as an infant from medical complications. The family next moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Two more children, Stacey Kim and Jon Joseph, were born in Las Vegas, completing the brood. It is here where Michael became a firefighter for Clark County.

Michael loved and excelled at this new career and became the youngest to be promoted to Captain in Las Vegas. He was featured in an article in the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. During his firefighting career, he attended two years of certification training and college, which allowed him to become an instructor. For a time, Michael was an arson investigator for the county and played an integral part in shaping this newly formed division. He also was a charter member of the union, Clark County Firefighters Local 1908. Eventually, Michael was promoted to Senior Captain. He took and passed the test for Chief, but declined the promotion because he loved being with the men in a more hands-on role versus an administrative one.

Over the years, Michael enjoyed many hobbies, which included golf, paraplaning (ppc), motorcycle riding, and camping with his friends, to name a few. After retiring from firefighting, Michael eventually relocated to Burley, Idaho, to be near his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was able to meet his first great-granddaughter before he passed.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Vern Reynolds and Margaret (Burt) Reynolds; and his siblings, Gene, Keith, Colleen, and Margalee.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Eve (Richardson) Reynolds; his children, Mark Shane Reynolds, Stacey Kim (Reynolds) Hughey, and Jon Joseph Reynolds; his grandchildren, Michael Joseph Reynolds, Savanna Eve (Reynolds) Austin and her spouse Kenneth Austin, Lacey Terre Newton, Riley Ursula Hughey, Jordana Grace Hughey, and Dylan Elizabeth Reynolds; and his great-grandchildren, Claire Elise Austin and Colden Iturbide Austin.

There will not be a formal service. A private cremation has taken place. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories on the Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home memorial page at the following web address: https://www.rasmussenwilson.com/Obituary.aspx?ID=9517.
