Service Program

HEYBURN – Lanny (Lanzo) Jay Carlisle, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,
passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Burley, Idaho.

Born on August 8, 1941, in Heyburn, Idaho, to John and Lela Carlisle, Lanny was the second of four children. Growing up, he loved fishing, hunting, and gold mining with his father. As a teenager, he discovered a passion for racing cars and fixing anything with a motor. His natural curiosity and skill for tinkering never left him.

Lanny met and married Irma Dean Neukam, and together they were blessed with two children, Lanny John and Debby Lynn. Family was at the heart of Lanny’s life. He spent countless hours teaching his children to hunt, fish, gold mine, garden, and repair anything that needed fixing. Many of John and Debby’s fondest memories are of the camping and fishing trips they shared together.

Lanny and Irma made their home in Paul, Idaho, where he built lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community he cherished. He worked as head mechanic for Kloepfer Inc., where he was known for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and willingness to mentor others. His knowledge and kindness impacted many lives.

When he wasn’t working or enjoying the outdoors, Lanny found peace in his garden, which he meticulously tended year after year. He also enjoyed collecting guns and coins, always delighted to find a rare coin or a good deal on a firearm.

After Irma’s passing in 2007, Lanny met and married Linda. They made their home in Heyburn, where Lanny continued to spend his time camping, fishing, taking four-wheeler rides, and tinkering in his shop. He loved woodworking and often gifted his creations to family and friends, a testament to his generosity and creativity.

Lanny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and quiet wisdom — values he instilled in everyone around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, John (Tamara) Carlisle and Debby (Troy) Rose; his stepson, Corey (Lisa) Eames; thirteen grandchildren, Jordanne (Cody) Riddle, Kiana (Luis) Huerigo, Kolby Carlisle, Shania Carlisle, Harley (Connor) Nielson, Brody Rose, Searra Ann (Chris) Fairchild, Trevin (Natalie) Rose, Chance (Elena) Howard, Nya Trau, Wyatt Trau, Vanessa Eames, and Anthony Eames; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn, Idaho. A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at noon at Rupert Elks Lodge.

So sorry to hear about your dad. Just want to say that I have nothing but admiration and respect for Lanny. As you know, I worked with him in Paul for many years and he was a top mechanic, and, the one thing I’ll always remember was how well he always took care of me and the equipment I ran. I considered him a great friend at work and miss those days with him.
