Teresa Lynn Thomsen

Dec. 8, 1951 - Oct. 14, 2025

Date of Service: Oct. 25, 2025

BURLEY – We are saddened to announce that Teresa “Terri” Lynn Cook Thomsen, 73, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. She was born on December 8, 1951, in Rupert, Idaho, to Richard and Leela Cook.

Terri grew up in Rupert with her four brothers and one sister, surrounded by love and laughter. She attended public schools in Rupert, where she made many lifelong friends and built the foundation for the caring and compassionate woman she became. She often shared fond memories of life on the farm with her grandmother, cousins, and siblings — stories filled with warmth, laughter, and the simple joys of childhood.

On September 2, 1972, Terri married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Thomsen. Together they built a life in Burley, Idaho, filled with family and love. They were blessed with four children, who were the joy of her life.

Terri attended Idaho State University, College of Southern Idaho, and Eastern Oregon College, where she minored in elementary education and children’s literature studies. Her studies reflected her deep love of learning and her natural gift for nurturing children.

Terri was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings throughout her life. Her quiet strength, compassion, and willingness to serve others reflected her deep faith and love for the Savior.

She loved children and spent many years caring for them both at Impact Athletic and in her own home. Terri worked at Impact Athletic for 33 years, where her kindness and joyful presence touched the lives of countless families. She retired in 2022, leaving behind dear friends and many fond memories. The children she tended — and their families — became a cherished part of her extended circle of love.

Terri was compassionate, empathetic, and kind — a true friend to everyone she met. She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments: spending time with her family, reading, sewing, and creating beautiful scrapbooks that captured cherished memories. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her creativity, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

Terri is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Thomsen of Burley; her children, Rachel Thomsen of St. Anthony, Amanda (Jeff) Maxam of Pinedale, Wyoming, Sarah (Leslie) Iglesias of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Joshua Thomsen of Burley; her brothers, Thom (Nikki) Cook of Mountain Home, Kelly (Tena) Cook of Baker City, Oregon, Roger (Dyann) Cook of Boise, and David (Cyndi) Cook of Mountain Home; her sister Alison Monasterio of Boise; her six beloved grandchildren, Shyla, Zach, Daniel, Brooke, Mia, and Laura, who brought her endless joy; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Leela Cook.

A funeral and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Burley 4th Ward Chapel, located at 515 E 16th Street. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor her memory. Following the funeral, a family luncheon will be held.

Terri will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her faith, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
