Veronica Gertrude Wilde

Nov. 30, 1940 - Jun. 27, 2026

BURLEY – Veronica "Roni" Wilde, 85, of Burley, passed away at Cassia Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Roni was born on November 11, 1940, in Manhattan, New York, to John and Edith Wilde. She spent her childhood in Yonkers, New York, until her family moved to Levittown, New York, in 1952. She graduated from Hicksville High School in 1958 and went on to attend Earlham College in Indiana, where she studied psychology. In 1962, she transferred to the University of New Hampshire, earning her bachelor's degree in 1963. She continued her education there and received her master's degree in psychology in 1965.

Following graduate school, Roni began teaching psychology at Nassau Community College in Levittown, New York. She served as a professor there until her retirement in 2001. The following year, she moved to Burley to live near her sister, Edith Harriet Cole. In 2014, she became a resident of Pomerelle Place Assisted Living, where she remained for the rest of her life.

Every summer, Roni spent her vacation with her mother and her sister's family in Aurora, Colorado. During those visits, she helped her mother tend the garden and delighted in taking her four nephews and one niece to movies, parks, swimming pools, and on countless memorable road trips. She truly earned the title of the family's "Fun Aunt."

Roni had a lifelong love of food and amassed an impressive collection of cookbooks. She also enjoyed reading and frequently exchanged favorite authors and books with her sister Harriet.

Roni was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Wilde; her sister, Harriet Cole; and her nephew, Jeffrey B. Cole.

She is survived by her nephews and niece: Lawrence S. Cole (Linda) of Lakeland, Tennessee; Andrew T. Cole (Melanie) of Silverdale, Washington; David S. Cole (Janet) of Albion, Idaho; and Susan V. Cole of Burley, Idaho.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pomerelle Place Assisted Living for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Roni throughout the twelve years she made it her home.

Roni will be interred at Albion Mormon Cemetery alongside her sister Harriet, her brother-in-law, Jacob Cole, and her nephew, Jeffrey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
